Privacy policy

Last updated October 28, 2026

This policy explains what information Seatchartly ("we") collects when you use seatchartly.com, and your choices.

Who runs this site

Seatchartly (seatchartly.com) is an independent website run by one person, its owner, who is based outside the United States, the European Economic Area and the UK and is responsible for the information described here. Contact: hello@seatchartly.com.

Information you enter in our tools

Guest names, rosters, table layouts, headcounts and other details you type into our tools are processed in your browser. We don't send them to our servers. Tools that offer to save your work keep it in your browser's local storage on this device, say so with a "saved in this browser" note, and offer a clear button that deletes it (the seating chart maker clears or deletes one chart at a time); clearing this site's data in your browser settings also removes it. The moon button (Dark theme) in the header switches the site to its dark theme; your browser keeps that choice too (the word "night", or "day" once you switch back), and the word itself is never sent to us.

If you use "Share link" in the seating chart maker, the chart title, guest names, groups, table names and seats, and where each table stands on the chart, are packed into the link itself, after the # sign. That part of a link is not sent to our server, so we never receive or store the list; it goes wherever you send the link, and anyone who has it can read the list. If you press "Send on WhatsApp", the message with the link is handed to WhatsApp, and if you press "More ways to share", to the app you pick from your device's share menu; each then processes it under its own terms. Our analytics record the page without that part of the link, and they never see the message handed to WhatsApp.

Importing a spreadsheet, a Word document or a photo of a list happens in your browser too: the file is read on your device, including the text recognition for photos, and is not uploaded.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 on seatchartly.com to understand which pages and tools are useful; preview copies of the site on other addresses send it nothing. Google Analytics sets cookies (in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, only after you accept) and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and events like "tool completed". Tool events include counts and menu choices (for example, the table shape or the number of guests), never the names, rosters or text you type. Video events record only which of our videos started, whether it started by itself or with a press, and whether it played past 5 seconds or to the end.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland start with analytics cookies turned off. Elsewhere, analytics are on by default. Anywhere, you can choose "Reject" in the cookie banner or under "Cookie settings" in the footer: Google Analytics then stops on that page, its cookies are deleted, and it doesn't load again in this browser unless you accept. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as "Reject" unless you choose "Accept" on this site. A browser's "Do Not Track" setting doesn't change how the site works; Global Privacy Control does, as described here. Your choice is stored in your browser.

We don't show ads, so advertising storage and ad personalization signals are turned off for everyone. Apart from Google, through Google Analytics as described here, no third party collects information through this site about your activity over time or across other websites.

Our host, Cloudflare, processes the technical data every website receives, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and protect the site. Learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Advertising

We do not currently run ads or affiliate links. This page will be updated before any are added, with a certified consent tool where the law requires one and a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link for U.S. state privacy laws.

Email

If you email us, we use your message only to reply and to fix any error you report. We don't sell or share it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to processing. Contact hello@seatchartly.com. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13.

We'll show the date at the top when this policy changes.
